Raised in a family of hairstylists, my hair was always laid. It took moving away for college–to a mostly white neighborhood–to realize I didn’t have the time or money my curls deserved. No student is looking to drop $100 for a perm.
After months of neglect, I did the big chop. I took my hair back to basics. And enjoyed learning (and loving) my locks so much, I wanted to share it! I put my videos on YouTube, for those looking for inspiration—daring to take the exciting first step on their natural hair journey.
I played Rugby in my uni days. Sports, cold weather, and regular cotton fabrics took their toll–with a quickness! KIN Apparel was born from a random thought. It hit me on the rugby field: “I’m gonna make a satin-lined hoodie.” Truthfully, I was just looking to make my life a little easier. I had no idea of the adventure ahead of me.
Then, in 2021 I had my life-changing moment. I appeared on Shark Tank. I finally had the resources to get KIN Apparel out to KINfolk looking to get their curls leisure-ready—worldwide.
